I live in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
What Work Do I Do Now?
I am a freelance translator, copywriter, and proofreader, primarily working remotely. I also write essays for leading Dutch newspapers such as de Volkskrant and NRC. Next to this I am currently also the
- English to Dutch translator for the Canadian New York Times bestselling author Zoe York
- English to Dutch translator for the Copenhagen Consensus Center, Simple Online Healthcare, Desktronic, BrickOwl, ClickTrans and English proofreader for the international pages of Le Monde.
I am available for freelance projects on Upwork, where I bring the same dedication and expertise to every client. What is Upwork?
In addition to these activities, I also enjoy helping SME entrepreneurs as a consultant. I help them consider the best approach for their supply and demand. I now do this on a regular basis for businesses in Cambodia, Sri Lanka and Portugal.
With practical tips and smart strategies, I help entrepreneurs get more out of their business without it costing a fortune. Whether it’s a better managed hotel, a more efficient kitchen or a more appealing menu in a restaurant or an event that really stands out, I love helping people move forward!

Projects
- The Quiet Reader, an online literary magazine that I founded in 2020. Revamped and relaunched last Spring with a new edition released last December.
- Expedition Kilimanjaro, the tour company I have been running since 2008. Yes, that’s for over 16 years and I can’t stop telling people to get up that mountain themselves. Now in 4 different languages.
- On the former website of The Flicks Community Movie House, which I ran from 3 locations in the capital of Cambodia for 12 years, I still post recommended movies for fans of the better movies. Previously including download links, but that’s become highly illegal nowadays :-p
Watching
Film: Last film seen: Locked. A surprisingly entertaining thriller!
Series: I was almost ashamed that I had never seen anything from The Handmaid’s Tale. Now that season 6 has been released this year, it was time to start with season 1 (from 2017!).
I also watch SUITS LA every week.
